HIDALGO COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTY HAS HIS LICENSE SEPARATION REPORT UPGRADED FROM “DISHONORABLY DISCHARGED” TO “GENERAL DISCHARGE”
A Deputy with the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office had hisSeparation of License Report (F5) with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcementreported by the Sheriff’s Office as “Dishonorably Discharged”. The agencyclaimed that the deputy’s separation was due to allegations of criminalmisconduct, insubordination, or untruthfulness. Texas Municipal Association(TMPA) assigned the case to attorneys Roberto M. Garcia and Alex Guajardo. Withthe assistance of Attorney Alex Guajardo, the deputy’s F5 report was upgradedfrom “Dishonorably Discharged” to “General Discharge” as a result of a mediatedsettlement agreement with the agency. Texas law enforcement officers whoreceive a “Dishonorably Discharged” designation on their F5 are at risk ofhaving their peace officer’s license permanently revoked upon receiving two“Dishonorably Discharged” separation designations.
